Rugby Institute - Phillip Halpin
Phillip came to St Johns College from St Patrick’s School, Napier.
Phillip has represented SJC as flanker & captain of the F grade team; half back for SJC U15’s and has played as Half back for Hawkes Bay U 14s.
Phillips success in the classroom is reflected in him constantly gaining great weekly notes and making good academic progress in class.
Phillips parents have commented that “Phillip has developed good daily routines to fit in school, training and homework.”
Phillip will trial again for the 2015 rugby institute and has enjoyed developing new skills during 2014.
Basketball Institute - Phenix Pomana
Phenix came to St Johns College from Havelock North Intermediate.
Phenix has succeeded inside and outside of the classroom. In 2015 he has taken Year 9 core subjects, options of Graphics, business studies, Te Reo Maori and has been a member of the Basketball Institute in Year 9.
Phenix has” enjoyed learning new skills and working on fundamentals” during his institute time and feels that his involvement has helped keep him motivated and on task in class.
Phenx has trialled for the NZ U13 Koru (development) team, has represented HB U15 Basketball and HB U13 Rugby in 2014.
Phenix will trial for the 2015 Basketball and aims to lead the junior A basketball team to the top of the junior competition in 2015.
