Welcome to NCEA Level 2. As with NCEA Level 1, this course will have a number of achievement standards as a means of assessment. There will be six standards used, one of which is internally assessed and the remainder externally assessed in the examination in November. These are

This will prepare students for the 24 credits towards the Level 2 National Certificate in Educational Achievement (NCEA). The NCEA encompasses THREE Topics of work. Each topic is assessed against THREE Achievement Standards.
The following economic issues will be covered:
- Inflation 2.1/2.4/2.5
- Trade 2.2/2.4/2.5
- Growth 2.3/2.4/2.5
The One Internal Achievement Standard will be assessed as follows:
2.4 (90797) Process, present and analyse statistical data in relation to given economic issues. (NEW 2007)
This achievement standard involves investigating a current economic issue. It will include the processing and presentation of statistical data in order to analyse this data by making generalizations, drawing conclusions and making a justified forecast in relation to the economic issue.
The task will be distributed during Week 9, Term 2 and is to be submitted at the end of Week 4,Term 3.
The FOUR external Achievement Standards will be assessed by a 3 hour examination at the end of the year.
You can gain the following grades in the Achievement Standards.
Non Achievement N/A Did not meet the standard
Achieved A The standard was met
Merit M The standard was met demonstrating very good work
Excellence E The standard was met demonstrating excellent work
