WEEKLY  NOTES

“Weekly Notes” is the name given to the Marist tradition of awarding each student a grade for effort in each subject every week.

Why We Do Weekly Notes

1.   To encourage subject teachers to think about our individual students once a week.

2.   To encourage us to hold discussions about effort with individual students.

3.   To encourage students who are making a very good effort.

4.   To be proactive in dealing with individual students whose efforts are poor or in decline.

Honours will be calculated on the average of notes awarded:

Weekly Honours are awarded to students with an average of 4.25 or better (a student with a bad note, i.e. 2 or 1, cannot be awarded honours).

Term Honours go to the member of each form class who has the highest average for the term.  He joins the staff for morning tea at the end of the term.

Top Honours go to the highest average in each year level for the year, receiving a special prize at prize giving.  Top Honours is decided by the Deputy Principal.

Off the Board: awarded to students with an average of less than 2.5. Form Teachers will record those who are Off The Board on the new form designed for this purpose.

To qualify for Weekly Honours or Off the Board at least two thirds of the subject notes must be entered.
