Course Entry Requirements

An achievement equivalent to the following or at the discretion of the HOD.

Year 11   
Students will be placed in the appropriate class         
An adequate standard in Year 10

Mathematics

 

Year 12        
?   Senior Mathematics

      6 passes in Level 1 Mathematics

      or approval of HOD.

?   NCEA Level 2 Course

     7 passes in Level 1 including a

     merit pass in Algebra 1.1 and

     an achievement pass in Graphs        

       1.2  or the approval of the HOD.

                              

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Year 13

?   Maths with Calc.     
     Seven passes in  L2 Mx   

      including a Merit in 2.1, 2.2,    

      2.3, 2.8 or the approval of the               

      HOD.

                               

?  Maths with Stats.     
    Seven passes in L2 Mx

     including 2.1, 2.2, 2.4, 2.6 or

     the approval of the HOD.

 

?  Business Maths      
     16 L2 credits or more in the

      Year 12 Senior Maths Course

      or the approval of the H.O.D.

Practical Mathematics

Year 12 Mathematics

Two courses will be offered.   

 

Level 2 Mathematics

This course has the general aim of defining a level of mathematical understanding and a body of knowledge appropriate for pupils proceeding to tertiary level study.  This course will offer the eight Level 2 N.C.E.A. achievement standards below and be worth a total of 21 credits.

Level 2 Senior Mathematics

This course is designed for students who have passed NCEA Level 1 but do not yet have the algebra skills to make the large jump to Year 12 Mathematics (NCEA Level 2). It involves a mixture of practical Unit Standards and the easier Level 2 Achievement Standards. It will allow students to enter Level 2 in the following year or L3 Business Maths or perhaps Level 3 Statistics. This course will suit Gateway students and students wishing to enter a trade.

Business Maths

This is a new course in 2008 suitable for students who took Combined Senior Maths in 2007 and wish to further their Mathematics. The course will include the Year 13 Statistics internal assessments as well as L3 credits offered from Economics Unit Standards.  This subject CAN NOT be used to gain University Entrance.
